Who might need a joint injection?

Our Nottingham and Nottinghamshire patients might benefit from a joint injection if they have a painful or swollen knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hand or wrist. These can be caused by conditions such as (but not exclusive to):

 

  • Osteoarthritis (knee, hip, feet and hands)
  • Tennis or Golfer’s elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Shoulder problems such as frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injuries
  • Hip pain (bursitis)

Unsure which route is best for you? Don’t worry! You do not need to know before you attend your appointment. Our Doctor will help pick the best route for you, and give you time to consider.

The doctor will examine you and advise you on the best course of action. You can ask the Doctor any questions you may have regarding injections. You can then choose to go ahead and have the injection at the same appointment or take time to consider. The doctor will sometimes advise a course of treatment with both drugs for maximum effect.

Corticosteroid Injection

A corticosteroid (or ‘cortisone’) is an anti-inflammatory medicine, which can be injected directly into the tissues or structures that are causing your symptoms

Corticosteroid - 1 Joint: £280.

Corticosteroid - 2 Joints (at the same appointment): £500.

Who performs the injections?

Dr Elgerray is our expert in house Doctor. He has years of experience and a passion for sports injuries and joint pain.

Dr Elgerray will fully assess the area and your suitability for an injection. He will only advise an injection to those who will benefit from the procedure and might advise other courses of treatments.

Our clinic is open for Face to Face treatment! We assure you that we have put enhanced measures in place to ensure the protection of both you the patient, our staff and the wider public. If you answer YES to any of the above then you will not be able to be seen Face-to-Face but we can still discuss and treat your injury via Telephone/Video Consultations. We can also offer Telephone/Video Consultations for those patients who are still shielding.
